The purpose of this research is to identify student usability and functionality requirements for WorldCatUM at the University of Maryland, College Park. WorldCatUM is a federated search service from Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC). This service would serve as the main portal for students conducting searches of the library catalogs of the University of Maryland, College Park, the greater University of Maryland system, and participating libraries in OCLC. In order to determine the usability and functionality requirements, an iterative design strategy will be used to collect data from users, librarians, and current usage data from WorldCatUM. This project is being conducted by students taking the LBSC709 Independent Study course this Spring semester.
