Katie Shilton is an Assistant Professor within the College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland (as of August 2011). Her research explores ethics and policy for the design of information collections, systems, and technologies. She previously coordinated an NSF-funded research project at the Center for Embedded Networked Sensing, and is currently conducting an education project focused on ethics as inspiration for innovation. Katie received a B.A. from Oberlin College in 2003, a Master of Library and Information Science from UCLA in 2007, and a Ph.D. in Information Studies from UCLA in 2011.
